Adventurer Machine
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
The crystals provide power to the castle's defences. The crystals are also able to summon creatures, like dragons. Orcs that consume the energy of the crystals are attacking the castle and absorb the energy from the crystals. But adventurers have arrived to stop it.
In this game, you have to hire adventurers using your funds, to get the list of adventurers you need to press the grey button (the red button hires the fighter, who fights using a sword, the blue button hires a thief who fights using a bow, he is stronger than the fighter, and the green button summons the warlock, he casts a magic bolt which kills the enemy in one hit, the warlock also fires faster than the thief). They leave after 30 seconds.
Orcs spawn every 4 seconds and they absorb the energy from the crystals. If one crystal runs out of power, it's game over.
You can also use bombs, to use bombs, press the button in the bottom centre. You have to choose the location where you will place the bomb. To place the bomb, press the right mouse button. You can kill an orc with a bomb if he passes the defense.
Right to the bomb button, there is a red button, if you press it and have enough power in the crystals, you will summon the dragons.
Some clickable supplies may spawn, like bombs and energy, to get them, you need to click on them.
To pause the game, press the button in the top left corner.

The UI seemed broken for me. So I had to randomly stumble upon the controls, I saw your instructions later. Restart also was automatic so I did not even know that gameplay was looping.
Also I think each element should use bigger scaling because I could barely see the heroes until I did a full screen
Its a nice Prototype and what it would need is simply some feel good elements and better UX to feel better.
Congrats on creating this in 2days
Hello, thank you for your feedback. What exactly do you mean by a restart?
After the game was over, it would immediately restart with all towers being full health, I assume that is a game over without any screen and the game starts again.
What version of the game were you playing? There is a game over screen, I have tested it on Linux
I was playing the windows version on itch app since I saw a single download I used the native install, nit sure if the default itch installed was an older version.
I have only worked with web builds on itch so dont know much about native versions.
I just downloaded the Windows version to check if everything is OK and when one crystal runs out of power, there is a game over screen, I don't know what's the problem with your game.
If you want, I can record a video of how it works on my end.
I've read all the instructions and I thought maybe a few more visual cues would be nice in the game. Also I did not find a way to stop the orcs once they passed the defense line, so they would just slowly destroy the crystals! It would be nice to have a way to attack them once they are by the crystals.
If an orc passes the defense, you can use a bomb to stop him.
It a definitely an interesting game though it is hard to figure out what is going on. You have buttons set up for UI but no way to tell what the buttons do until you randomly click and experiment with them. UI may be a small part but it is very important for the player to know what part of your game does what. The overall concept of the game is a very cool idea but without knowing what's happening i cant really give an overall opinion or rating so for now id give it 2/10 simply because i don't know what's happening. Feel free to give my game a try id really appreciate it and feel free to give your honest opinion even a harsh one. https://marquae44.itch.io/zombliens
Hello, have you read the instructions?
Yes I have. However visuals are still an important part of the game and for players who have never played your game before having to move away from the game to reread instructions that are listed elsewhere is a take away. You want your players to be constantly engaged and never look away from your game. I could easily rate the game higher but with me having to move away from the game to get some understanding its a negative. You also have to realize some people will not take the time to read the instruction which is why a very clear UI is important. UI should always be worked on in atleast some regard to give the player direction.
Im not trying to leave a bad review by the way I'm just try best to give critical feedback.
I get what you are saying. BTW, you mentioned that the players should never look away from the screen to read the instructions. You may pause the game and then read them.
